Woman: Winston, you — Oh my! You’ve changed!
Winston: As have you!
BOTH: I did it for you!

Woman Oh dear, it looks like we have ourselves a real “Gift of the Magi” type situation.
Winston: Do we , though?
Winston: Or is it closer to Romeo and Juliet’s tragic irony?

Woman: I say no, we’re still alive.
Winston: True. Mabye this is more a “Cask of Amontillado” sorta thing.
Woman: No, No, No. But hold on — How did Tristan and Isolde end up?
Winston: Are we at all close to “Black like Me” ?

NINE HOURS LATER
Woman: Okay, so we’ve narrowed it down to either those chapters of “Moby Dick” that everyone skips , or an early unpublished draft of Tartuffe.
Winston : I’m still holding out for that “Nancy Drew” book whose name I can’t remember .
Winston: Something “Skeleton”

''The Secret of the Rusty Skeleton.'' But it is nothing like this.

20 years ago (in photocomic form)

A young David Malki !, Steve Carey, and Ryan North, June 2006.

The computers tell me it was 20 years ago, June 9, 2006, that I arrived in New York for my first-ever comic convention as an exhibitor, MoCCA.

It was an important trip for me, a milestone in what would go on to become my career.

I wrote a little reminiscence on Patreon (free/unlocked) — including a first-since-then reprint of the photocomics I made at the time, documenting the trip!
