Are you going to be home for dinner?
No, I’m meeting Sean at 4:30, we’re gonna grab dinner and then —
4:30?

Ha ha ha! You old biddies gonna grab the early bird special and gossip about your favorite soaps? Maybe swap cornbread recipes or complain about your hip dysplasia?
You’ll be just adorable in your bulky sweaters, your haloes of bluish hair just bare visible over the back of the booth!
What I am saying is that only old ladies go to dinner at 4:30.

…We’re gonna grab dinner and then, before it gets too late, go visit his great-aunt who’s been in the hospital.

You wanna backtrack in this conversation a little, or…?
Nah, I’ll play it where it lies.

That great-aunt must be ANCIENT.

20 years ago (in photocomic form)

A young David Malki !, Steve Carey, and Ryan North, June 2006.

The computers tell me it was 20 years ago, June 9, 2006, that I arrived in New York for my first-ever comic convention as an exhibitor, MoCCA.

It was an important trip for me, a milestone in what would go on to become my career.

I wrote a little reminiscence on Patreon (free/unlocked) — including a first-since-then reprint of the photocomics I made at the time, documenting the trip!
