[[Woman is watching TV; man approaches behind her]]

Man: I can’t understand how you can watch so much SPORTS. Grown men chasing a little ball around a park. It’s POINTLESS!

Man: It doesn’t AFFECT anything. It doesn’t SOLVE anything. It doesn’t MATTER. You get all worked up and emotionally invested and for WHAT? Some MADE-UP conflict that exists only to put MONEY into the pockets of STRANGERS.

Man: It’s a waste of TIME, a waste of MONEY, and a waste of STRESS.
Woman: Dude, fourth quarter.

Woman: I’ll entertain whatever dumb discussion you want in ten more minutes.
Man: Cool, ‘cuz when it’s over I need the TV to play video games.

Applications open for Genius Northwest – an IRL gaming competition

Last year, I participated in Genius Northwest, a gaming competition inspired by the Korean gameshow The Genius and its ilk.

It’s a reality show without the cameras — a 3-day, all-inclusive weekend retreat structured around a series of challenges and puzzles, in which personalities and dealmaking matter as much as playing games.

It’s truly a remarkable thing. I came in dead last in the competition, but I still had a great time participating.

The event is held annually in the Pacific Northwest (hence the name) and applications are now open to participate in the 2026 competition!
