[[A woman is seated at a table, writing in a small book]]

Woman 1: I like making a schedule for the day’s work. Really makes you be honest about how long things take, and how much is reasonable to expect to accomplish.

Woman 2: Assuming you stick to the schedule.
Woman 1: Of course. But I _want_ to! Now that it’s down on paper, I picture a little me, perkily spending the time from 9:30 to 10:00 putting laundry away.

Woman 1: I’m telling the story of the me I _want_ to be! The me who puts laundry away before 10 and then still has time to knit a while before bed. It also defines a set of victory conditions for the day to come!
Woman 2: You do love parameters

Woman 2: So? basically your day planner is fanfic for your real life.
Woman 1: Be the Mary Sue you want to see in the world

20 years ago (in photocomic form)

A young David Malki !, Steve Carey, and Ryan North, June 2006.

The computers tell me it was 20 years ago, June 9, 2006, that I arrived in New York for my first-ever comic convention as an exhibitor, MoCCA.

It was an important trip for me, a milestone in what would go on to become my career.

I wrote a little reminiscence on Patreon (free/unlocked) — including a first-since-then reprint of the photocomics I made at the time, documenting the trip!
