[[A curly-haired man is holding his nose, talking to another man, who is holding a cigarette.]]
Sufferer: Bluh, feeling a little congested today.
Contrarian: You know, some people have chronic respiratory ailments every day of their lives.

Sufferer: Even had a nosebleed this morning…
Contrarian: Some people’ve had them every hour like clockwork since puberty!

Sufferer: Think I might also have a rash starting on my nose here.
Contrarian: Some people are covered EVERY INCH with HORRIFYING skin disease that will never EVER heal

Sufferer: I’m CONFUSED. What reaction are you hoping to provoke from me?
Contrarian: You know, SOME people are confused ALL THE TIME FOREVER and they never EVER figure out that various OTHER people may or may not have a CRUSH on them!
Contrarian: SOME people

Applications open for Genius Northwest – an IRL gaming competition

Last year, I participated in Genius Northwest, a gaming competition inspired by the Korean gameshow The Genius and its ilk.

It’s a reality show without the cameras — a 3-day, all-inclusive weekend retreat structured around a series of challenges and puzzles, in which personalities and dealmaking matter as much as playing games.

It’s truly a remarkable thing. I came in dead last in the competition, but I still had a great time participating.

The event is held annually in the Pacific Northwest (hence the name) and applications are now open to participate in the 2026 competition!

Learn more — and apply — at GeniusNW.com.
