[[A standing woman and a sitting boy are conversing in a house.]]
Sitting boy: Haha, check out this super-weird video!
It’s a sitcom…about Nazis!
I swear it’s real!

Standing woman: That’s…Hogan’s Heroes.
Sitting boy: You KNOW it???
Standing woman: KNOW it? I watched reruns every day after school!

Standing woman: I guess I never realized someone wouldn’t know it.
It seems like a known part of the culture, like the Flintstones or something.
But then I remember you were born in 2003!
Sitting boy: The Flintstones?

Standing woman: …You do know the Flintstones, don’t you?
Sitting boy: Oh, of course.
That’s the thing they make fun of on Family Guy, right?

Applications open for Genius Northwest – an IRL gaming competition

Last year, I participated in Genius Northwest, a gaming competition inspired by the Korean gameshow The Genius and its ilk.

It’s a reality show without the cameras — a 3-day, all-inclusive weekend retreat structured around a series of challenges and puzzles, in which personalities and dealmaking matter as much as playing games.

It’s truly a remarkable thing. I came in dead last in the competition, but I still had a great time participating.

The event is held annually in the Pacific Northwest (hence the name) and applications are now open to participate in the 2026 competition!

Learn more — and apply — at GeniusNW.com.
