PART 4 of the ongoing storyline. Borgus is at work, staring into the middle distance, as his boss ALAMBRA approaches. Like Borgus, she is adorned in proper PPE (hard hat).
ALAMBRA: Borgus, do you have any updates on the transatlantic pontoon bridge project? Borgus. BORGUS!
ALAMBRA: That slack-eyed look… that unfocused gaze… Did you JUST see the lightning duds for the first time or something?
LINDOR (co-worker): HA! Prob’ly STILL thinkin’ about th’ LAUNDRY ones in his lady’s DELICATES!
ALAMBRA: Did it AWAKEN something in you, Borgus?
ALAMBRA (nonchalant): There’s no shame in it.
LINDOR: We’ve all thought it. Some weekend, you should come round after supper. Me an’ the missus have worked out a BIT of an arrange–
[Borgus is now home, wearing his home hat. His wife Clementhe sits on a chair, weeping into a handkerchief and squeezing the tears into a scrapbook she keeps for this reason.]

Applications open for Genius Northwest – an IRL gaming competition

Last year, I participated in Genius Northwest, a gaming competition inspired by the Korean gameshow The Genius and its ilk.

It’s a reality show without the cameras — a 3-day, all-inclusive weekend retreat structured around a series of challenges and puzzles, in which personalities and dealmaking matter as much as playing games.

It’s truly a remarkable thing. I came in dead last in the competition, but I still had a great time participating.

The event is held annually in the Pacific Northwest (hence the name) and applications are now open to participate in the 2026 competition!
