[[BEREK and BONSEY are in a rowboat.  A coxless pair, to be precise.]]

BEREK: I believe that after we die, we’ll have eternity to observe anything in the universe that we want to. Since no one knows what happens after we die, I figure it’s as plausible as any other theory.

BEREK: THINK of it — being able to satisfy your every curiosity!  Watch the birth of the earth!  See every moment in history AND every moment yet to come, on this planet AND every other in the universe!

BEREK:  I’m in no particular rush to die, but thinking of what I’ll be able to see and do after it happens helps me be less afraid of it.

BONSEY:  But what if you’re…wrong?

BEREK:  Well, that’s the greatest part!  I won’t mind at all!  I’ll be too busy being friggin’ DEAD!

That said, if it turns out there IS an afterlife and it ISN'T what I expected, I will be PRETTY miffed, let me tell you!!!

20 years ago (in photocomic form)

A young David Malki !, Steve Carey, and Ryan North, June 2006.

The computers tell me it was 20 years ago, June 9, 2006, that I arrived in New York for my first-ever comic convention as an exhibitor, MoCCA.

It was an important trip for me, a milestone in what would go on to become my career.

I wrote a little reminiscence on Patreon (free/unlocked) — including a first-since-then reprint of the photocomics I made at the time, documenting the trip!
