Boat Fan: Check out that boat supply shop over there.
Boat Fan: You need any *boat supplies*?

Boat Fan: Boat oil? Boat string? Boat cranks? Boat wood?
Boat Fan: Boat mats? Boat paper? Boat bags? Boat air?

Boat Fan: Boat hooks? Boat additive? Boat sealant? Boat seasoning?
Boat Fan: Boat primer? *They got it.* Boat flags? *Three aisles.* Boat jugs? *Invented ’em.* Boat lights? *Captain’s own.*

Boat Fan: Store *looks* like a boat. *Feels* like a boat. *Sways* like a boat. Sometimes gets *lost* for a bit.
Boat Fan: Do… you… need… Boat seals? Boat racks? Boat wheels? Boat wax?
Bystander: *Yes.* I do. I need some boat wax.

Bystander: Gotta wax the ol’ boat every now and then.
Boat Fan: Is that… is that a euphemism?
Bystander: And what if it is?

Bystander: You need to get past your boat hangups!
Boat Fan: *What!!* I don’t *have* any *boat hangups!*
Boat Fan: *That’s* why I need to get some boat hooks!!

Applications open for Genius Northwest – an IRL gaming competition

Last year, I participated in Genius Northwest, a gaming competition inspired by the Korean gameshow The Genius and its ilk.

It’s a reality show without the cameras — a 3-day, all-inclusive weekend retreat structured around a series of challenges and puzzles, in which personalities and dealmaking matter as much as playing games.

It’s truly a remarkable thing. I came in dead last in the competition, but I still had a great time participating.

The event is held annually in the Pacific Northwest (hence the name) and applications are now open to participate in the 2026 competition!

Learn more — and apply — at GeniusNW.com.
