Nostalgic Woman: Say the PRESIDENT emailed you. You might save it. But would you FRAME it?

Nostalgic Woman: So I built a program that automatically creates beautiful letters out of digital communications.
Nostalgic Woman: Suitable for cherishing throughout the years and passing down as heirlooms.

[[An array of printed emails is spread out on a table. Each is printed with elaborate and beautiful letterheads. One is from “GRANDMA”, subject “FWD: Fw: re: Fwd: MUST READ” with text “A Marine was” (rest obscured). Another is from “Office of the Governor of Guam”, with text “Blessings to my Dear Friend, I am Mother Sarah Susan Emmanual, the wife to Late. Rev. Dr. Alan George Emmanual who worked with the embassy in Ghana for Nine years. When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of $48 Million Dollars (Forty Eight Million)” (rest obscured). Another is from “Cashchum Limited LLC Bankers”, titled “Notice of Policy Updates” with text “Each year we send you a copy of our Privacy Policy just to keep you up on our data… [obscured] protection practices” (rest obscured). A final email from “HELEN RICHARDSON” in “HUMAN RESOURCES” titled “Re: Re: Sandra’s Birthday Card” reads simply “Ok.”]]

20 years ago (in photocomic form)

A young David Malki !, Steve Carey, and Ryan North, June 2006.

The computers tell me it was 20 years ago, June 9, 2006, that I arrived in New York for my first-ever comic convention as an exhibitor, MoCCA.

It was an important trip for me, a milestone in what would go on to become my career.

I wrote a little reminiscence on Patreon (free/unlocked) — including a first-since-then reprint of the photocomics I made at the time, documenting the trip!
