Comic Transcripts

[[Two businesspeople are talking.]]
Darren: How’s the horse racing biz?
Otto: GREAT! I read some books. Talked with some gurus. Really got down and dirty in the trenches.

Darren: So you race horses now?
Otto: I’m a fractional owner of a leveraged derivatives partnership which holds some racehorses as assets, yes.
Otto: The fund also holds partial variable stakes in horse racing as an overall market cap both here and abroad

Otto: Currently most of my holdings are focused on DUBAI but I have an algorithm that automatically speed-trades my equity depending on a gamut of aggregate indices
Otto: Pretty standard stuff

Darren: Is it… working?
Otto: So far I’ve managed a steady adjusted 0.05% daily reinvested dividend for my consortium of silent partners and venture backers!

Darren: But no actual, uh… horse racing
Otto: Oh GOD no. FILTHY creatures.

Continued from Part 1

20 years ago (in photocomic form)

A young David Malki !, Steve Carey, and Ryan North, June 2006.

The computers tell me it was 20 years ago, June 9, 2006, that I arrived in New York for my first-ever comic convention as an exhibitor, MoCCA.

It was an important trip for me, a milestone in what would go on to become my career.

I wrote a little reminiscence on Patreon (free/unlocked) — including a first-since-then reprint of the photocomics I made at the time, documenting the trip!
