[[A man is leaning against his window, complaining at a bystander outside.]]
Complainer: ARGH! I HATE the modern world!
Complainer: I feel like I was born in the wrong era!

Bystander: You were born too late? Or too early?
Complainer: I wish I had been born 100 YEARS FROM NOW!

Bystander: So you could experience the future!
Complainer: So I could LOOK BACK to TODAY with the rose-tinted vision of nostalgia!
Complainer: If I’m to be STUCK here, I want to figure out how to consider it a GOLDEN AGE.

Bystander: So you’d rather live in a future you’d be DISSATISFIED WITH ENOUGH to look back at NOW and say
Bystander: “Everything was better, back when I wished I lived in what is now the present”
Complainer: Sure, you put enough knots in that logic, it’ll fly a sail

20 years ago (in photocomic form)

A young David Malki !, Steve Carey, and Ryan North, June 2006.

The computers tell me it was 20 years ago, June 9, 2006, that I arrived in New York for my first-ever comic convention as an exhibitor, MoCCA.

It was an important trip for me, a milestone in what would go on to become my career.

I wrote a little reminiscence on Patreon (free/unlocked) — including a first-since-then reprint of the photocomics I made at the time, documenting the trip!
