[[Two men are talking. They lean in close to talk to one another, very excited.]]
Alex: Great to meet ya!
Bob: Likewise! Likewise!
Alex: I’m sure we’re gonna be the best of friends!
Bob: Looking forward to it! Getting to know one another!

Alex: Getting close! Close like a BROTHER!
Bob: Sure! Telling SECRETS! Secrets are what bond men together!

Alex: MEN or ANYONE! You can whisper a secret into a TEACUP!
Bob: SURE! Do the ol’ Texas teacup shifty-whisper! Wait all day to hear a secret BACK! The TRADING of secrets is the glue that makes the bonding!

Alex: The secret comes back like a zephyr out of Hades! “I’m a GHOST, trapped in a teacup!” Now you gotta make a CHOICE! Did you bond with a TEACUP or with a GHOST!
Alex: Choose carefully! This decision MAY be your LAST! It’s not a THREAT but more a STATISTICAL FACT! When you start hearing GHOST WHISPERS in TEACUPS, you MIGHT have had a stroke!

[[Two women stand nearby, watching the men.]]
Bob: WOW! Teacup ghosts are my SECOND favorite discussion topic! An’ number ONE is the likelihood of my having had a stroke! I guess we really WERE born to be best chums forever!!
Bystander: I don’t know whether to ENVY male friendships or put them in a ZOO

when you find your tribe you get excited

20 years ago (in photocomic form)

A young David Malki !, Steve Carey, and Ryan North, June 2006.

The computers tell me it was 20 years ago, June 9, 2006, that I arrived in New York for my first-ever comic convention as an exhibitor, MoCCA.

It was an important trip for me, a milestone in what would go on to become my career.

I wrote a little reminiscence on Patreon (free/unlocked) — including a first-since-then reprint of the photocomics I made at the time, documenting the trip!
