RON: Do you think everyone has the same number of hair follicles? On the face of it, you'd think of course not. Some people are WAY hairier than others. But are they? Or is their hair just thicker and coarser? Even bald people HAVE hair follicles, it's just that fewer of them are active. I mean, why wouldn't we all have the same number of follicles? We have the same number of fingers. I know, I know - some people don't have the same number of fingers. But that's abnormal. But - JEEZ, maybe there's a high rate of abnormality with hair, too. With so many follicles, the chances of minor mutation during development are very high. Meaning, even if there WERE some theoretical "ideal" number of follicles, chances are slim that anybody would match that number. So if there were an ideal number, would we even know?
