[[A man and a woman in a car drive past another man and woman in a different car.]]
Man: You ever look at strangers on the road and wonder where they’re off to? Like those people. They look nice. Where are they going?
Woman: Probably back to our house.
Man: Huh. Do they have keys to our house?

Woman: No. The cats are throwing a party while we’re gone.
Man: The cats don’t know how to use the doorknobs. Those people will be standing outside. Big crowd gathering on the stoop. Everyone’s wine getting warm.

Man: Cats on the inside just pawing frantically at the crack beneath the door, wondering how everything went so wrong.
Woman: Yeah, it’s not a good party.

20 years ago (in photocomic form)

A young David Malki !, Steve Carey, and Ryan North, June 2006.

The computers tell me it was 20 years ago, June 9, 2006, that I arrived in New York for my first-ever comic convention as an exhibitor, MoCCA.

It was an important trip for me, a milestone in what would go on to become my career.

I wrote a little reminiscence on Patreon (free/unlocked) — including a first-since-then reprint of the photocomics I made at the time, documenting the trip!
