[[HENRY and MR. MEANSCARY.]]
HENRY: Mr. Meanscary, I’m not afraid of you.
My parents tell me to be, but I don’t see any reason I should.

HENRY: I’m tired of being commanded to blindly fear this or that. People trip over themselves VILLAINIZING everything.
You’ve never done a thing to hurt me. I’m not going to go hating anyone without a darn good reason.
MR. MEANSCARY: Thank you, Henry. That’s very kind of you to say.

HENRY: …How do you know my name?
MR. MEANSCARY: I live in your closet.

HENRY: DUDE! THIS is a REASON!
MR. MEANSCARY: I’m SORRY, you’re RIGHT, I CHOSE to be turned down for seventeen apartments in a row!

20 years ago (in photocomic form)

A young David Malki !, Steve Carey, and Ryan North, June 2006.

The computers tell me it was 20 years ago, June 9, 2006, that I arrived in New York for my first-ever comic convention as an exhibitor, MoCCA.

It was an important trip for me, a milestone in what would go on to become my career.

I wrote a little reminiscence on Patreon (free/unlocked) — including a first-since-then reprint of the photocomics I made at the time, documenting the trip!
