Part 4 (the final part) of the storyline. Bill drives home after Christmas Eve at his mom’s house. On the darkened roadway, who does he see but Santa himself, silhouetted against the moon high above.

BILL (muttering to himself): Merry Christmas, little baby brother.

BILL: “Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas, older brother whom I always respected and looked up to and whom I still think about often, even though I never send so much as a FACEBOOK HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”

Apparently Santa can hear him. They speak casually across the distance.

SANTA: Man, this is like my ONE thing

BILL: It’s FINE! GO! The REST of us will just be down here NOT being mythologized by an ENTIRE CULTURE!

SANTA: Dude, I’ll see you at Easter

BILL (bitterly): Until you slap your face all over THAT, TOO, RIGHT

We leave it there. God bless us everyone!

Applications open for Genius Northwest – an IRL gaming competition

Last year, I participated in Genius Northwest, a gaming competition inspired by the Korean gameshow The Genius and its ilk.

It’s a reality show without the cameras — a 3-day, all-inclusive weekend retreat structured around a series of challenges and puzzles, in which personalities and dealmaking matter as much as playing games.

It’s truly a remarkable thing. I came in dead last in the competition, but I still had a great time participating.

The event is held annually in the Pacific Northwest (hence the name) and applications are now open to participate in the 2026 competition!
