[[Young Sam is slumped on a desk. Ethel sits in the background. The same for all 5 panels.]]
Sam: Great-aunt Susan died.
Ethel: Oh, no! …Which one was great-aunt Susan?

Sam: The one with the ringworm farm.
Ethel: Oh. Great-aunt SUSAN. Well, your mom will want to see you at the funeral.
Sam: It’s next Saturday.

Ethel: Isn’t that the purple spooks concert?
Sam: Yes. Yes it is.
Ethel: The one you skipped work to stand in line for tickets for?
Sam: YES THANK YOU

[[They sit for a panel in silence.]]

Ethel: The difficult choice is usually the right choice.
Sam: You’re right! I should STEAL the body and take it to the concert WITH me! After all, THAT would be TREMENDOUSLY difficult.

20 years ago (in photocomic form)

A young David Malki !, Steve Carey, and Ryan North, June 2006.

The computers tell me it was 20 years ago, June 9, 2006, that I arrived in New York for my first-ever comic convention as an exhibitor, MoCCA.

It was an important trip for me, a milestone in what would go on to become my career.

I wrote a little reminiscence on Patreon (free/unlocked) — including a first-since-then reprint of the photocomics I made at the time, documenting the trip!
