Man: Man, I hate coming home for the holidays.
Man: First it's some sly comment about my job. And my hobbies. And my friends.
[[The man continues thinking.]]
Man: Then comes the silence. The implicit judgement. I thought parents were supposed to be supportive.
Man: Look at them, just waiting to slip in some crack, some dig at the way I've chosen to live my life.
Father: So, ah, John...
[[The mother and father turn to look at John.]]
Father: Frankly, we're a little concerned.
Father: We hear you're the Delaware Decapitator?
Man: And HERE we GO!

The computers tell me it was 20 years ago, June 9, 2006, that I arrived in New York for my first-ever comic convention as an exhibitor, MoCCA.
It was an important trip for me, a milestone in what would go on to become my career.
