JULIAN: Have you ever been at the store or somewhere, and you see someone and you think, "I bet they're cool, I bet we could get along."
JULIAN: But you can't do anything! You're at the store, they're a stranger. How come it's creepy to say to someone, "I think you look like a cool person"?
JULIAN: So I said, screw that noise. We rocked some eye contact. I went for it.
FRANCISCO: She didn't feel the same way, I gather.
JULIAN: Yeah, now I gotta wear this stupid thing on my ankle.
JULIAN: The penal code doesn't get me!

The computers tell me it was 20 years ago, June 9, 2006, that I arrived in New York for my first-ever comic convention as an exhibitor, MoCCA.
It was an important trip for me, a milestone in what would go on to become my career.
I wrote a little reminiscence on Patreon (free/unlocked) — including a first-since-then reprint of the photocomics I made at the time, documenting the trip!
